Sunrise Story...

I spoke to some Japanese patrons at our bar (Tetsu and Osamu) last night and they mentioned a great lookout to watch the sunrise against the main range of Hakuba on the road to Kinasa. Up at 5:00am I walk out to minus 7 degree temperatures and head off in their car. It took about 30 minutes to get to the lookout and I watched as the sun rose turning the mountains a magnificent pink colour. Although the freezing temperatures were hard to bear it was well worth the trip.

Back to the White Horse to see off Greg and Tash and Megan and Tony and pick up Geoff for his last day on the mountain. We rode fresh groomers on 47 overlooking the valley floor and over to Goryu for some of the best groomer runs of the season. Geoff had his best day on the mountain for the week. A great day - now time to have an onsen and a roast dinner. . .

Bottomless powder day today. Probably the best day of the season so far. A lot of people had their last day today so not a bad note to go home on!

Hakuba Cortina again...

West Ozi crew at Cortina for the day. Only a few people on the hill and plenty of nice lines to be had. Needless to say everyone left with a smile on their face and we had our biggest night in the Bar-Restaurant to Date!!!

White Horse Hotel on Fuji TV!

Tony is a Star!

The News Japan crew called us up on Tuesday and asked if we would be part of their story on foriegn investment in Hakuba. Kenji Urushizawa interviewed me for about ten minutes and spoke to a few of our guests. I thought I spoke reasonably well and only really stumbled once. Guess what part they put on the TV?
Oh well, I am very happy to be a TV personality now in Japan and I promise it won't go to my head. Have to go now. Brad and Angellina are popping over for martini's and I still have to call Quentin T back.

Powder Morning at Happo - afternoon at Goryu

A great powder morning on Happo. Fresh tracks had by all. Today I went out with JD, Kathy, Kevin and Steve. We got in some too deep powder on the North ridge but made up for it on what we expected to be large moguls with a little powder and turned out to be a lot of powder covering some small moguls. We also got some great fresh tracks in a nice natural tree bowl.

A couple of hours up at Goryu taking Susie for a snowboarding lesson whilst boyfriend Andrew was getting some turns in. A couple of beers at the yurt to finish off the day.

It's Dumping...

A great day on the mountain this afternoon with some magnificent tree runs. I was out with some of our guests JD, Kathy and Steve. It dumped over a foot of snow during the day and we had fresh tracks on every run. Its been snowing all evening so we are all getting up for the first gondola at 8:00am.
